Desperately Seeking Volunteers
Wed, 2009-06-17 14:08
To help us inspire, educate and offer practical help to individuals, private and public sector organisations to help them to understand climate change and our wider energy challenges - we desperately need volunteers. Some of their recent achievements include having recently won a prestigious award for their work, an overwhelming response for their Climate Change Exhibition in the National Museum of Uganda, and runner up with commendations in another awards scheme. One of the judges commented "Marches' Low Carbon Communities (LCC) programme has found a way to inject enthusiasm for green action at the local level that can mobilise the whole community and leave it empowered." We already have a small team of dedicated volunteers. Some use it to keep up their skills, gain hand-on experience or gain new skills. Karen Smith, who works alongside the Carbon Forum team, has just completed her NVQ in Business and Administration Level 3. This was provided by SBC training, and based with MEA. The course was free as it was funded by the government's Train to Gain Scheme. She's now going on to do an Advanced Adult Apprenticeship with MEA We need people who are willing to help with events, research and office work. There is no minimum time commitment and all out of pocket expenses are paid. We will be holding a volunteer information and recruitment day on 30th June to give potential volunteers more about our projects and let them know what opportunities there are to support our work. To attend the day, please call Wendy on 01743 246007 or email sarah@mea.org.uk |
