MEA have launched a new publication summarizing their experience of working with small businesses in Shropshire over the past 3 years. As well as summarizing the achievements of the "Low Carbon Communities for Business" project, which MEA's "Low Carbon Enterprise" team delivered on behalf of Shropshire Council, it is intended to assist others to focus in on what sustainable energy measures are likely to be appropriate to certain businesses from the outset. Over the period from 2006-2009 the team produced energy reports for over 100 businesses and helped implement capital projects which have been estimated at saving over 200 tonnes of CO2 and approximately £50,000 in energy costs per annum.
MEA's technical advisor, Tristan Haynes, said "the guide draws on our experience of working with a wide range of businesses of different sizes across different sectors. It is often hard to know where to start in looking at the businesses use of energy and hard to know what to expect from measures designed to reduce energy consumption, I hope this guide can offer some kind of starting point for individual small businesses or those working with them".
