About Us

The challenges of fuel poverty, climate change and rising energy costs continue to grow. At Marches Energy Agency (MEA) we are inspired to embrace these challenges fully, to help create a better future.

In this future we see:

  • Vulnerable householders being supported to live with dignity in their homes, where cold doesn’t affect their physical and mental health, and energy bills aren’t a worry.
  • Well-informed householders making their homes more energy efficient, warmer and cheaper to run, producing significantly less carbon and generating their own power.
  • Trusted local companies that are able to install energy saving measures that work, and which use a local workforce, thereby helping to retain money in local economies.
  • Neighbourhoods working together to share knowledge and learning to find workable low carbon solutions.
  • A more significant leadership role from Local Authorities, preventative health organisations, faith networks, colleges and NGOs, able to influence, train and inspire.
In order to achieve that our mission is:
  • To address fuel poverty
  • To enhance local energy security and resilience
  • To help create low carbon citizens, communities, organisations and economies.

Our approach is:

  • Innovative: We seek to be innovative in all that we do. The scale of the energy trilemma (affordability, security & low carbon) calls for new ways of thinking and new ways of doing.
  • Community Centred: The community is at the heart of all that we do. We have to try to engage whole communities on the low carbon/sustainable journey.
  • Practical and exciting: Energy can be dull. We try to make it exciting (or at least less dull!) and always practical.
  • Sustainable: What we provide has to endure long after we have moved on to the next project. We always aim to leave a lasting legacy.
