Where I've come from: Peterborough, York and Wales, in that order.

I like: Homemade things, bargain hunting in charity shops, tweed jackets, vintage clothes (hats in particular), photography, dinosaurs, watching old films and going to the pub. I don't like throwing things away, sport, television, or sport on television.

A moral I live my life by: 'Don't panic'; indispensible advice for these interesting times.

How I'm trying to live more sustainably: Being frugal and thrifty, buying most of my clothes secondhand, putting on a jumper before turning on the heating, and walking or using public transport to get about.

I believe the greatest threat to our current society and environment is probably human nature: this century will be the one where we discover whether we really are an intelligent species or just a clever type of monkey with an unfortunate penchant for shiny things and fire.

My 'dirty secret' (nothing lewd or personal here please - from a sustainability point of view only!): Although I don't drive, I did take a short haul flight last year.

It may surprise you to know but . . . in my first two years at MEA I have distributed lightbulbs while dressed as a medieval serf and built a scale model of a Ugandan village in the future.

If things had turned out differently I might have been: the next Doctor Who.
