robert saunders . . .

Robert Saunders is the RRZ RE:think Energy Assistant.  Robert has worked with MEA since 2001 having previously been with Neighbourhood Initiatives Foundation, several businesses and run a part-time driving school.

He has been active in environmental issues for many years and worked on numerous sustainable energy projects within Marches Energy Agency.

Robert SaundersProfessional Interests:  Helping individuals and businesses reduce their environmental footprint by promoting sustainable energy opportunities, general practical advice and positive action.

Qualifications:  BSc Managerial and Administrative Studies and Dip. HE. Environmental Science.

Skills:  People friendly with a practical and thorough approach to his work - and an eye for detail.  Also community participation / consultation, media relations, presentations (especially smaller groups)

Where I've come from:  Ayrshire (Scotland) via Walsall (West Midlands) and now Telford.

I like:  Eclectic mix of music, foreign films, reading, walking, gardening and a bit of cycling, together with Friends of the Earth activities and lobbying my local council.

A moral I live my life by:  Not always achieved but attempted - 'do unto others as you would have them do to you'.

How I'm trying to live more sustainably:  Support local farmers market, low annual vehicle mileage using 110g/km car, solar thermal heating panels on roof and 100% green electricity tariff, regular meter readings of gas and electric to minimise consumption, Viessmann Vitodens 200 full weather compensation boiler, minimal flights, several trees in garden, and frequent user of charity shops.

I believe the greatest threat to our current society and environment is... our selfishness

My 'dirty secret' (nothing lude or personal here please - from a sustainability point of view only!): apart from living in Telford rather than Shrewsbury, I buy too many CDs although often second hand

It may suprise you to know but... I was previously a purchasing manager in industry, am an occasional driving instructor (including Driver Improvement Courses for Shropshire Road Safety Section and likely only driver instructor in UK running on 100% biodiesel)

If things had turned out differently I might have been... a police officer or teacher
