simon ross . . .
Simon Ross is Team Leader for the Low Carbon Communities team at MEA. He seeks to use his passion and vision to engage home owners, schools, local businesses, community groups and funders to deliver community-based low carbon projects that achieve tangible CO2 savings. Arguably more important though is to help empower the community to continue their own journey. This all sits against a broader backdrop of local community, food, economy and people. Projects to date have all sought to grow and develop this concept which will probably take the next decade or 2 to finesse, so please come and share the journey.
Professional Interests: Working with a community towards a low carbon future Qualifications: Biology Honours Degree, but a bit rusty on how those rat liver enzymes actually worked - assuming I ever knew in the first place Skills: Team player, good communication skills and clear vision of a pathway to a low carbon future (bit hazy on the detail though) Where I've come from: 15 years in the Army I like: Peace and quiet because its so rare with a young family A moral I live my life by: Compassion and patience How I'm trying to live more sustainably: Nearly sold the second car, reduced domestic carbon emissions from 10 tonnes to 3 and taken on an allotment. Not a bad start I suppose. I believe the greatest threat to our current society and environment is: Man's greed My 'dirty secret' (nothing lewd or personal here please - from a sustainability point of view only!): I'd love to fly again It may surprise you to know but . . . I'm completely deaf in my right ear - the guns you know If things had turned out differently I might have been . . . a teacher, although in some respects I feel I am |
