tim baldwin . . .
Tim Baldwin is the project manager for the Afforable Warmth Service. After a successful career in business, Tim decided to pursue his interests in ‘green' issues and attained a BSc in Sustainable Development followed by an MSc in Natural Resource Development. Having decided that his interests lay more toward the built environment he then qualified as a Code for Sustainable Homes Advisor. Since October 2010 Tim has been a volunteer with MEA working on various projects including energy efficiency surveys, renewable technology feasibility studies and low energy lighting surveys for community groups, Councils, SMEs and the public. He was appointed ActionHeat Assistant in 2011 and provides advice on energy efficiency and fuel poverty and refers people to partner businesses for free or discounted solutions such as Loft and Cavity wall insulation as well renewable energy technologies.
Qualifications: MSc Natural Resource Development. BSc Sustainable Development, both from Bangor University. Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor(CfSH). Access to Higher Education Certificate in Environmental Science. BEC(G) Diploma Business Management, Both from Shrewsbury College of Art and Technology (though 20 yrs apart). Cycling Proficiency and a Width Certificate (swimming)! Skills: people skills including, communicating information to people of all levels of interest and putting people at ease. Assimilating information quickly and research. Where I've come from: Born in Shrewsbury and moved away to various places including; South Wales, the Wirral, Gambia in West Africa; Rotterdam, Holland and North Wales, then back to Shrewsbury last year (often back to Shrewsbury in between as well) I like: Reading, writing, cooking, swimming, walking, spending time with family and friends, especially my daughter, but most of all sleeping! A moral I live my life by: you'll regret the things you didn't do more than any that you tried and failed at, and ‘do unto others ...' How I'm trying to live more sustainably: walking not driving. Monitoring my energy use and reducing where possible. I believe the greatest threat to our current society and environment is: Us. Through inactivity, greed or just believing the myth that we stand alone and can't make a difference My 'dirty secret' (nothing lewd or personal here please - from a sustainability point of view only!): Though I try to buy locally and organically produced food I still shop in supermarkets. It may surprise you to know but . . . 99% of all statistics are made up! If things had turned out differently I might have been . . . Far less fortunate |

Professional Interests: promoting sustainability in the built environment including renewable technologies and energy efficiency. Reducing fuel poverty. Encouraging/‘Empowering' (horrible word) people and communities to become more sustainable and participative.
