Diane is in her 70s and widowed. She is managing a series of long-term health conditions including a stroke and heart attack. On top of it all her boiler broke and she couldn’t afford to get it changed. Her home became ‘freezing upstairs’ and she took to living, eating and sleeping in one room downstairs with a room heater. Life was ‘pretty desperate’ for her.
She was referred to Marches Energy Agency and we were able to access two grants for nearly £4,000 to get her central heating working again. This included a large grant from an energy company and a smaller top up grant from a Local Authority. This made the installation free for her and allowed her to 'come alive again and to move freely around my home.' Our support has transformed her life.
